    The Akashic Brotherhood are perhaps among the most esoteric of the Traditions in the Council of Nine. another group of Awakened humans, a band of mages who saw reincarnation as their duty. As for the "magick" they employ, I suggest a trip to your local video store or theater and taking in as many martial arts films as possble. That means that you're going to have to wade through plenty of non-fiction books about the martial arts and the Shaolin Temple in order to get the information that the Akashic Brotherhood should've had but didn't incorporate. Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of gaming-friendly (let alone gaming-oriented) material out there that deals with the Shaolin Temple the best that I know of is Blood of the Valiant for Feng Shui. It's not as meaty as most suppliments of its size either, and that's clearly a mark against it. The information within this book isn't as slim as the Virtual Adept, Verbena or Son of Ether books. (For example, the facts in the first two sentences of this paragraph got buried underneath the story- and that takes most of the book!) The rest gets shunted aside into poorly-placed "sidebars"- to be kind- and even that isn't wholy reliable.

    Like the Verbena book, this book buries most of its meager information amidst a substandard story. This Tradition is based upon the real world Shaolin Temple, and its entire paradigm follows that of the Chi-oriented martial arts master. Fortunately, this book does manage to let the reader get just enough of a hint to allow him to extrapolate. As the last of Mage's First Edition faction books, the Akashic Brotherhood book follows its predecesors in doing the utmost to avoid giving the reader a solid grasp of what this Tradition is all about.
